In 1996, Bio-Microbics,
Inc. was formed by RLR, Inc., a Kansas City based water and wastewater
treatment conglomerate, to manufacture and market FAST® wastewater
treatment systems for the light commercial and residential onsite wastewater
treatment markets. The treatment technology had been previously manufactured
for the municipal, industrial and marine wastewater markets by other RLR,
Inc. subsidiaries.
In 2002, Bio-Microbics earned an "Export Achievement Certificate" from the U.S. Department of Commerce. This national award spotlights firms that have successfully expanded their presence in an overseas market. Bio-Microbics was the first company from the Kansas City area to win such a distinction. ...[More] History of FAST® Treatment - In the early 1970s, Smith & Loveless, Inc. (another RLR, Inc. subsidiary) received a contract from the St. Louis Ship Co. to develop a treatment plant to put on its barges that navigated the Mississippi River. Changing regulations disallowed the dumping of wastewater directly into the river. St. Louis Ship Co. also wanted to minimize water usage by reclaiming the treated "gray" water for the ship’s flush toilets. By 1976, the patented process called Fixed Activated Sludge Treatment (FAST) was available for marine applications. From this interesting beginning, the FAST technology has developed into an entire product line for its three manufacturers, Smith & Loveless Inc., Bio-Microbics Inc. and Scienco/FAST Systems, Inc. With countless installations world-wide in municipal, industrial, marine, commercial and residential applications, the FAST product line now includes: Factory-Built FAST®, Field-Erected FAST®, MarineFAST®, MicroFAST®, NitriFAST®, RetroFAST®, LagoonFAST®, HighStrengthFAST®, MobileFAST®, HighBiomassFAST® and the ModularFAST®...[More] The RLR, Inc. family of companies has over 100 years of combined experience in the water and wastewater industry. Each subsidiary company offers unique quality products that provide solutions for many problems in the industry.
Known globally for superior engineering and manufacturing capabilities, Smith & Loveless is one of the most recognized water and wastewater pumping and treatment groups in the world. Contact Information:
